World of Warcraft PvP fortifications: stealthed captures impossible

The Overlook - one of the fortifications claimable in Hellfire Peninsula - Image 1And that is as it should be, although rumors are coming in about fortified towers captured by Rogues in stealth mode. This one report by Silveron, a budding level 25 Night Elf Hunter, found that recapturing strategic points in Hellspire could be easily thwarted by Rogues hidden by their Stealth talent.

Waxxy Nethaera confirmed that Stealth, Invisibility, nor the inherent Night Elf ability Shadow Meld, will allow players to capture fortifications. Even Druids feathered up as Storm Crows cannot grab a picket fence from high above. So why are the reports seemingly consistent in their finds?

Well, level 66 Tauren Druid Oakroot gave us a good possible angle of how this “illusionary feat” could be done. It only requires that you have a clear view of the approach of any player toward your position, and hiding from them when they are headed toward your general direction. Once Stealthed, Rogues are near impossible to detect.

Once the tower has been recaptured by the opposing player and that player leaves, a Rogue can deactivate his talent, capture the fortification and be ready for another game of hide and seek when the player comes back.
