With a certain high-fantasy trilogy already over and done with in theaters worldwide, it’s not that hard to imagine someone coming up with the idea of spoofing it in classic machinima fashion. And here to entice our senses and tickle our fancies is that exact idea, come to life in vibrant internet color – the Ruler of the Bracelet prologue video, courtesy of augurk!

Of course, while it’s a spoof of the Tolkien classic, it’s also a faithful translation of one of the jokes embedded in Blizzard‘s legendary MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The joke itself reads like so:

So, I have this idea for a great movie. It’s about two gnomes who find a bracelet of power, and they have to take it to the Burning Steppes and cast it into the Cauldron. They form the Brotherhood of the Bracelet. Along the way they’re trailed by a murloc named Gottum, who’s obsessed with the bracelet, and nine bracelet bogeymen.

It could be a three-parter, called ‘Ruler of the Bracelet’. The first part would be called ‘The Brotherhood of the Bracelet’, followed by ‘A Couple of Towers’, with a climactic ending called ‘Hey, the King’s Back!’

Featuring original voice overs and soon to feature actual players in the game, the Ruler of the Bracelet is definitely something to look forward to.
