Xbox 360 soon to go 1080p

Xbox 360It seems that Sony‘s biggest advantage in the console war has now (or will soon be) been lost. An official press release coming out of the Tokyo Game Show 2006 briefing from Microsoft indicates that the Xbox 360 will be able to support 1080p games and videos – that is ‘true high-definition’. It will come via a update this fall, and will improve upon the current maximum resolution output of 1080i.

“[Microsoft’s] fall software update, scheduled for release later this year, will allow all Xbox 360 consoles around the world to output game and movie content in 1080p resolution.”

Unfortunately, at this time, not too many other details are known, including what future games released will support this higher resolution. Be sure to stay tuned for more details.
