Yoichi Wada wants more multiplayer in Square Enix games

“In all of the games we will be releasing going forward, some kind of multiplayer element will be incorporated one way or another,” said the Square Enix president. “What we will encourage them to do is to incorporate some kind of multiplayer element even in single player games.”

Dragon Quest IX has its Tag Mode, Birth by Sleep supports ad-hoc, so even if a game is mostly single-player, Square Enix will find some way to add a multiplayer component into it. That said, we have Versus XIII, The 3rd Birthday, and a slew of Kingdom Hearts titles on the way, and seeing as Wada said “all of the games”, we could be looking at ad-hocs and online modes for these titles.
