Yoshinori Ono talks about the impetus behind Street Fighter 4

Street Fighter 4 producer Capcom - Image 1As the development on Capcom‘s Street Fighter 4 continues, Street Fighter 4 producer Yoshinori Ono has finally revealed the story behind Capcom’s decision to make a new Street Fighter game in a recent video interview. Interestingly, it had a little something to do with unlockable costumes from another video game series.

Have you ever wondered what finally pushed Capcom togive the go signal for Street Fighter 4? According to Street Fighter 4 producer Yoshinori Ono, it had a lot to do with fan expectations and a set of unlockable costumes from Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

In a recent video interview, Mr. Ono explained that the Street Fighter-themed extra costumes that Capcom had included in Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams had met with positive fan reaction. This, coupled with enthusiastic fan talk about the possibility of another Street Fighter game finally convinced Mr. Ono and his Capcom team to start work on Street Fighter 4.

While Mr. Ono admitted that there has been a lot of pressure involved in meeting expectations with regards to Street Fighter 4, he also said that he was happy to have been given another chance to both produce another Street Fighter game of his own and to reboot the beloved series.
