Furthermore, the DS was the top-selling video game system in June after selling 562,000 units in the US and 46,000 in Canada. Nintendo also remained the top video game publisher in 2007.

Six of ten top-selling games for the month of June in the US were under Ninty’s belt, with Mario Party 8, Wii Play, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl on the top four. Of the top 30 best-selling games in the United States for all of 2007, half are on either the Wii or DS – Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and Wii Play being the top three.

More than 180 games are already available for the Wii, while there are 120 Virtual Console titles. Number of games are expected to reach 330, including an additional 100 new games from every major third-party publisher, and 50 more Virtual Console titles.

DS owners have around 300 games to choose from, and 140 more are expected to come from every major third-party publisher. To sum it all up, Ninty’s got the first half of 2007 covered. Unless competitors in the gaming industry step it up, the Wii and DS will continue to print money.
