12 million gold confiscated in Azerothian bust
Over at World of Warcraft, a pre-Christmas crackdown by Blizzard staff has resulted in more than 105,000 accounts being shut down worldwide.
According to Blizzard’s news page, the accounts closed were “associated with activities that violate World of Warcraft’s Terms of Use.” These included the use of third-party programs that allow cheating, as well as gold and item farming. The removal of those accounts resulted in the removal of approximately 12,000,000 gold from the servers across Europe, Korea, and the US in November.
On the bright side, it may just mean that buying something special for your in-game loved ones will probably be a little cheaper on the AH this season. Oh, and to the guy who’s selling the broom with a frost enchant: 200 gold is a bit too much for that kind of novelty.
