16 new screenshots of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

A full magazine’s worth of some of the most bone-chilling screenshots of a zombie-infested Raccoon City heading right for your ocular receptors in this eye candy update of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii. We get you up close and personal with the living dead – close enough for them to give you a friendly love bite on the neck or two.

For those of us who’ve done more than our share of herb-mixing, storage box-pillaging and zombie-blasting, seeing Raccoon City again is…eerily nostalgic. Of course, we all know that the zombie-filled city itself was reduced to nothing but a crater after the events of Resident Evil 3, with the help of Umbrella Corporation nuking the entire city – but seeing it here, recreated in its dark, gloomy and deadly glory, it’s enough to make one shiver in his boots.

Graphics are very smooth and detailed, with the textures noticeably convincing and realistic. There’s credit to be given to Capcom on making sure the game looks as good as it does on the Wii – the environments are haunting, and the character models are definitely lifelike. Very nice muzzle flash in one of the screenshots, too.

With Resident Evil 5 still a long way off, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is sure to get us our ‘zombie-blasting’ legs back – albeit in a different form of gunplay entirely. Updates as we get them, so enjoy the screenshots!
