2.71/2.80 Hybrid DevHook for SE-B?

Some things you can't risk your PSPs for...Surfing through the net and our newstips, we found this one news from dgmr22 about (yes, like the title says) a claimed 2.71/2.80 Hybrid DevHook from Chaos Zero for SE-B. It is one of the Holy Grails after all – custom firmware or exploits for 2.80+, but let’s just say we sense a great disturbance in the Force when reading up on this.

The potential legal problems this thing can run into are one thing, but those are minor compared to an even greater risk. Chaos Zero admitted in his announcement at a PSP forum that in the process of merging 2.80 with 2.71 SE-B’s flash, he bricked his PSP.

Before this unfortunate incident, he created the Hybrid DevHook. He doesn’t mention any details behind its development, so we can’t be sure if the bricking was an offshoot of taking the Hybrid to the next level or a different project altogether. Uncertainty. That can’t be good.

He says later on that he’s noticed that Hybrid’s a tad more stable and safer than flashing SE-B. But one guy who’s tried to use it replied, “I tried to use just the one for 2.71.. and I get an endless reading from flash when it reloads 2.71.” That can’t be good at all.

Sure, something like this is bound to generate a ton of interest from you guys. On the other hand, we’d want to be dead sure this isn’t going to cause anybody any problems. And with reports of Booster working on a 2.80 DevHook (maybe even 3.0?), once that’s out, the Hybrid’s likely to become a moot point.
