$49.99 Memory Stick PRO Duo 1GB? Better Be Careful
Jjslotr, one of our users, came across an advertisement about memory stick: $49.99 Memory Stick PRO Duo. Sure the price is really attractive – too attractive to be real.
I’m not questioning the legitimacy of this advertisement, but there have been such “cheap” memory sticks, which were in fact hand made from some private workshops. These fake memory sticks are mostly tagged as Sony/Sandisk 1GB/2GB ones. Their quality is so terrible that you may find it stuck in the memory stick slot because the memory stick is too thick. If you try to apply too much force on it, you may just tear it into two, because the glue is too weak to keep its integrity. Data stored on them can easily get lost for no reason, or the whole stick turned out to be unrecognizable to the PSP. The free space on the sticks can suffer a sudden drop for no reason. These are the most important part of the “functions” you may get through the discount.
I doubt if you could tell which one is real without a tag
I for one know that where I live, in China, have been seeing numerous fake memory sticks on the market – but then again it is China. These perfectly faked things may be able to make their ways to other part of the world. So, just be careful when you do a bargain, sometimes it may just be a scam.
Thanks for the advertisement scan, Jjslotr.
