3D Blu-ray support to come out “end of this year”
Come the end of 2010, Sony will be releasing a separate firmware update specifically for the support of new 3D Blu-ray discs. Implicitly, this news confirms that version 3.30 (the PS3 3D FW update) released in back in April was only for 3D gaming, not for 3D Blu-ray movies.

No specific date was given, but what this entails is that those who have bought their 3DTVs already in anticipation of this feature will have to have no use for it until the firmware arrives. 3D Blu-ray movies are although expected to be out already by this summer, kicking off with the animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
3D gaming support comes in much sooner though, with Sony Japan setting the date for June 10.
