’80s-themed Guitar Hero in the works?
It feels like the ’80s is quite popular with today’s gamers, and apparently, some developers have “felt” this too. US magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly spilled the beans on Harmonix Music Systems) Independent Video Game Developer”>Harmonix‘s and RedOctane‘s plan of coming up with a 1980s-themed edition of Guitar Hero.
Now, this is quite interesting because neither RedOctane nor Harmonix has made previous announcements regarding this new edition of the game (and to think Guitar Hero 2 hasn’t been released yet). EGM also mentioned that the ’80s-themed title will be released by spring. We wonder though if this is a good strategy on the developer’s part. We know Guitar Hero 2 is a good title, but releasing similar titles in close proximity could go two ways.
First, it could slash a big portion of the support either game could get from gamers as some people would opt to just buy one edition. On the other hand, this could skyrocket the sales for the series as there’s a possibility that fans would buy both. But let’s give the developers the benefit of the doubt; they probably know what they’re doing.
At any rate, are you guys willing to buy two Guitar Hero titles? Or will you just buy one?
