9Dragons: Meet The League of Beggars
If you’re one of those martial arts fans who are anxious to play 9Dragons, you’ve probably been mulling over which clan to join. The game has six starting clans, three of which have been introduced – Shaolin, The Brotherhood of Thieves, and The Sacred Flower. If none of those appeal to you, perhaps you’d like to be part of The League of Beggars.
While some may be put off by the less-than-desirable name, it’s actually the easiest clan to join. The only thing you need to do is perform a few simple tasks, swear an oath, and of course, beg! The League is aligned with Shaolin and Wu-Tang Clan. The sheer number of members makes it easier to assimilate and dispatch info all over China.
Founded by a wandering hermit called Yi Metal Staff, the clan grew in numbers and a system of Kung-Fu called “Drunken Monkey style” evolved. Think of Jackie Chan in ‘Drunken Master’!
If you find yourself meeting someone dressed in rags, chances are they are a member of The League. But it’s quite difficult to distinguish the disciples from the true beggars because they wear the same rags. Those icky clothes may just be plain icky clothes to you, but they serve to keep the beggars humble. They also provide the disciples the ability to remain incognito among the general population.
What’s interesting is that members hold a secret rank, denoted by the number of knots on a rope belt. The leader has nine knots. They are the only ones welcomed in the homes of kings and noblemen. While that’s a perk you’d like to have, being a leader has a downside – you’ll have to be spit upon by every member of the clan! Don’t look at me! It’s their tradition. So, when you see someone with a 9-knot rope belt, just spit away!
