Gears of War Dev Cliffy B. Talks About the Game, E3 and the PS3
With the upcoming release of both Nintendo’s and Sony‘s newest consoles and their launch titles this coming holiday, you’d think that somehow Cliffy B. would be a bit worried about Epic’s Gears of War. But worried, he’s definitely not.
“We don’t really think about [Gears of War]. We’re just going to make the game we want to make.”
In this interview, he says his piece about the E3’s scrapping, and he candidly admits he’s going to buy a PS3 – but only after the price of the next-gen console goes down.
As for his reaction about the latest E3 news, he says he’ll miss it, but only because the expo sort of “legitimized” the gaming industry. He’d rather have his games previewed or demoed in a dark room for a more intimate setting. “Something that is pretty much the antithesis of [the original] E3,” he says.
So how would he describe the aforementioned game to someone who’d want to try out this Xbox 360 “savior?” He says it’s all about intimate violence. Gears of War is a contemporary yet unique game that he believes will be something really special. He has taken really cool features from several games he’d played before and added some other cool things to the game. “The gameplay itself just feels tight and crisp, which is something I really wanted, that snugness,” he says.
The game sounds more and more promising by the minute. Here’s hoping Epic releases the game as promised… Lots of people are itching to get their hands on this game.
