Human-Sized Gundam Shipping Out for Christmas
If you’re a big fan of the Gundam series of anime and games and either have a lot of money to spare or are blessed with very rich and doting parents, then you might just want to get yourself something special for the holidays.
Bandai Co. is planning to release a 1/12 scale model of the popular mobile suit, complete with features you would normally find on other Gundam models and toys. The “Hyper Hybrid” version of the Gundam is approximately 5 ft. tall (1.5 meters), and weighs in at 77 lbs (45 kg). The model has around the same amount of articulation as the smaller collectibles, but comes with additional lights and sounds you would normally hear or see from a Gundam in animated form, such as machine gun fire from its trademark Vulcans.
Of course, a human-sized model of a Gundam will not come cheap. The Hyper Hybrid Gundam will cost 350,000 yen, or $3,000, and has its date with retail outlets on December 16.
Now would be a good time to save up some cash, or be a very good kid for the next few months, if you’re really itching for one of these models. That is, of course, unless you want to wait for a 1/1 scale model, which can squash your house without much trouble, but that might be a while in the making.
