Half Life 2 Episode 2: More Gordon Freeman Goodness
As the world awaits for The Freeman to grace the PS3 and the Xbox 360 later this year, many are intrigued as to what Episode Two of the Half-Life sequel has to offer.
Coming a long way from Freeman’s crowbar-wielding days (though Freeman still keeps one around, of course), the game has come to the point where fans are left in suspense at every development, both storywise and gamewise.
Continuing the story from Episode One, Episode Two promises more interaction between Freeman and Alyx, who has established herself as a character and is apparently turning into a crowd favorite. Besides the new twists to the plot though, a new vehicle (a self-propelled battering ram), a new enemy, and a new weapon that has been dubbed as the “Strider Buster” will also be introduced.
Though there has been clamor for an even larger assortment of weapons to be added into the game, project leader David Speyrer believes that “things like flares and saw blades are as important, if not more important, than traditional FPS weapons”. This would then mean that as with Episode One, the player will still have to stay on the look-out for what he can use within the environment of the game (but then again, we already have the Gravity Gun, which many believe may be the best thing that happened since the BFG).
So as we look forward to battling with the Combine once again, and as we wonder what will happen to Alyx in the future, it’s good to know that Gordon Freeman is quietly sharpening his tools, and it’s exciting to see what he’ll get from his bag of tricks this time around.
