Extreme Soccer For Virtual Dwellers

Header

For our readers from China, here’s something you might like. Street Sports are all the rage. Imagine, you could play soccer or basketball anywhere as long as you have the basic equipment (ball and goal). The only problems would be the weather, traffic and the occasional ball-smashing-through-a-window. Probably, why online “extreme street” games are doing very well now. You just need a fast internet connection, electricity, and a PC and you’re ready to roll. No problem with the weather, traffic, nor angry neighbor.

In China, one of the bigger online gaming companies there is 9you. It recently closed beta testing for Extreme Soccer last August 31. The game was licensed from SonicAnt. Extreme Soccer is a four on four street game, where rules may get bent or even broken. It’s in an urban setting, a hip look, resulting in a lot of female fans. According to 9you, there’s around 140 million registered users and over 800,000 peak concurrent users. Whoa, that’s quite a lot for online street sports. The game will be competing with another popular online street sport game, Freestyle Street Basketball, operated by T2CN in China. Basketball or Soccer? You choose.

The response so far has been positive and better than what the company expected. However they still expect to break the 1 million concurrent users within the last quarter. With a couple of ads here and there, they might just get the million they want. See you in the streets!
