Famitsu Sheds Light On Samurai Warriors Wave
Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu recently shed some light on Koei‘s upcoming Wii title Samurai Warriors Wave, including a drastic change that will definitely cause a furor among fans. The game is based on the PS2 game Samurai Warriors, which in turn is an offshoot from the popular Dynasty Warriors franchise.
Samurai Warriors Wave will be flying in the face of the series’ traditional third person perspective style, shifting instead to a first person view in order to take advantage of the Wii controller. As with most action games for the Wii, the controller will be used to replicate the actions of weapons ranging from swords and spears to even guns.
Koei isn’t entirely forgetting about the game’s roots, though, as Samurai Warriors Wave will also have the historical elements that gave the previous titles in the series their flavor. And no, “historical elements” does not equal “giant crabs.” Not in this equation, anyway.
Samurai Warriors Wave is slated to be a a launch window title for the Wii and is expected to release sometime this year. North American localization has yet to be made official, but it is expected.
