Unknown Realms new screens
One of the more elusive titles for the Playstation 3 is finally beginning to reveal itself bit by bit as more screenshots are starting to surface for Sony Computer Entertainment’s Unknown Realms, a.k.a. Monster Kingdom. The brains behind this game is no other than Kouji Okada, who is known for his work on the Shin Megami Tensei series. The console which will carry the title is touted for being able to display jaw-dropping details in game environments. This combination promises a game that may just well be close to ethereal.
And speaking of ethereal, the story of Unknown Realms revolves around the investigations of occult journalist Keats who decides to track down the cause of death of a girl who calls him and asks for his help, but is found dead when he gets to their appointed meeting place in the town of Remrick. A second character appears in the town as Ellen, a college student, receives a letter from her mother whom she has long thought to be dead, asking to meet her in the same town.
And the plot thickens…
Keats’ investigations then take him to dream-like realms which is made even more fantastic by the incredible light effects that the PS3 can churn out.
Billed as a member of the dark fantasy genre, the story in this game also progresses in the form of a graphic novel. This, plus the bizarre character and creature designs of the game, can’t help but remind one of several characters from the Vertigo comic universe.
Though this game is still in progress and a release date is yet to be announced, we are currently looking forward to hearing more about this title once the Tokyo Game Show kicks into full swing this weekend.
