Canada PS3 preorders: Gamers camping at Ottawa
In just a few hours, EB Games will be opening up their doors for the floods of preorders expected to come in for the PS3, slated for launch this November 17. With only about eight units ready for preorder in the 10 EB chains in the national capital region, and with no word on when a second shipment of the machines are due, today’s atmosphere will be heating up, even as weather reports in Ottawa forecast near-freezing temperatures.
So, how are the gamers taking this?
Sarah Catcher, 22, and Shawn French, 27, have begun buckling down in front of the Melville Road branch of EB Games, and from the looks of it, they’re standing their ground as they wait in hope of being the first in grabbing the limited issue preorders, “We’re making sure we’re first in line,” said Mr. French. “We come prepared,” he also says, having ample supplies of water and coffee in his tent, along with thick blankets and lawn chairs for the long vigil.
They’re just two of the many faces we’ll be seeing around Canada, as the pre-orders will be released in a very short while.
“I’ve done a lot of crazy things before, but nothing like this,” said Ms. Catcher about this whole ordeal. Sure, it may just be crazy, but considering how long everybody’s been waiting for a chance to grab a PS3, and the willingness of gamers like them to face off against the biting cold, it’s admirable “crazy”.
To the guys out there freezing their cans of for the PS3, we wish the best of luck.
