GameTrak Fusion: A Wiimote replica?
A new motion sensing controller will hit the streets on the third quarter of 2007- and it’s not from Nintendo. In2Games just announced that a wireless motion system is in the works, which makes use of ultrasonic technology and get this, compatible with all gaming platforms: from the plethora of consoles available to your good old PC.
Now, before you scream bloody murder or utter, “Wiimote copycat”, hear us out. The motion sensing part comes when accelerometers point out the exact position (in 3D format) of almost any wireless gadget: golf clubs, baseball bats, whatever; instead of pointing a controller at the screen, which is how the Wii pretty much works.
But more than that, I think the big thing here is the said gadget’s cross-platform availability. Imagine dribbling a virtual basketball to your Xbox 360, or whack some tennis balls in your PS3. Hmm… even though it’s too early to speculate, I can’t help but wonder how Wii will manage the competition. No doubt, this sure adds a new twist to the next gen console war.
