Task force created to eliminate FF XI Online irregularities
We don’t know why some people find it amusing to cheat and abuse in certain games. Did you ever heard what happened to guild Overrated? They received a permaban because they used a cheat. It came to our attention today, that the same thing is happening to Final Fantasy XI. Actually, it was reported first last August that some players use third party tools that tilt in-game balance and encourage real money trading (RMT).
Of course, Square Enix didn’t simply ignore this matter. In fact, close to 5,000 accounts were already banned since then. The sad thing is that the abuse is still very rampant that a special task force had to be created. According to the game’s official site, the main objective of the group is “to reduce or eliminate altogether any elements that adversely influence the world of FINAL FANTASY XI, and to encourage a fun and fair playing environment.” Accordingly, investigation of around 100 Japanese websites and around 50 American ones have already began.
We can already hear some gamers ranting regarding this matter. But when you look at it, policing sometimes is necessary. Others play day and night, they grind so to speak, just to reach a decent game standing. Mind you, they do this not to punish themselves. They are doing it because they love playing and they enjoy every aspect of the game. Using cheats and other forms of such that put others at a disadvantage can’t simply be tolerated.
If you’ve played Final Fantasy XI as honestly and as straightforwardly as possible, then you have nothing to fear from this task force. As the management wrote, “To avoid falsely accusing account holders, all investigations will be conducted with equal thoroughness and care. RMT investigations in particular often include organizations formed through multiple accounts, and time must be spent confirming each case.”
