Wiimote – Strap + TV? Something awful
It was bound to happen, and it did. Ladies and gentlemen, we now have an addition to the hit list of Wiinjuries and other accidents caused by a Wii. And it’s Tuxedo Jack of the Something Awful forums, whose TV suffered something doggone awful when the wrist strap failed while his friend was Wii Bowling. ZOMGZ.
Okay, all schadenfreude and jokes aside, this Wiimote might as well hit the guy in the sensitive parts of the body. That is a big-a**ed crack on a 60″ rear-projection TV. And this isn’t some case of carelessness from a guy with clammy hands: Tuxedo Jack clearly started that his friend was using the Wiimote strap. And, as evidenced by the pictures below, the strap did fail. According to Jack, at around the 300th bowl that his friend took. Ouch.
Suddenly those Wiinjuries don’t look so funny anymore. Imagine if that was an LCD flat-screen TV. Or if it was (take your pick): your parents, your sister, your grandparents, your girlfriend, your brand new car, your pet dog or cat, your entire rock-and-roll collection, Natalie Portman, or your Wii. You may want to think about watching or reinforcing those wrist straps.
