Work halted on 2.80 downgrader at German site *UPDATE*

A rumor isn’t news. But when a rumor is big – then it’s news. And when it’s a rumor about the elusive 2.80 firmware downgrader… and it mentions Eiffel56 (remember the PRX Loader for 2.71 SE?). “Morgen Downgrader fur 2.80?” this German site says, and we just have to report on it, don’t we?

Our translation (helped along by web translators) is after the jump (click on the “Full Article” link below to see it).

Update: Thank you all for the translations! The comments below have English translations (thanks to all of you who commented we can’t name you all – there’s just too many!). We also got emailed translations – again, we can’t mention you all! But thanks to all of you – your homebrew community owes you!

Translations from Sarah Michael (aka SarahBaby3325 who took a German Elective), Jan Hofmeister (German with English language as a main subject), and Jan Rosemann (emnem98, from Osnabrück in Germany) are behind the jump.

Update: A *new* paragraph. There’s a new paragraph of text added to the German article:

Update: Work has officially stopped. She received too many PMs, etc. She simply needs time – she may continue the project.

Update: ARBEITEN OFFIZIELL GESTOPPT. Mir wirds zu dumm das mich alle 30 Sekunden(ich hab gestoppt!) irgendwer anschreibt und wissen will wie es läuft. Ich mache das in aller Ruhe. Und 2.80 is zickig. Ich brauche einfach meine Zeit. Ich werde drann weiterarbeiten, wenn es mir gefällt. Und ich werde drann arbeiten, denn das ist inzwischen fast schon was persönliches.

Our translation (helped along by web translators):

2.80 users may hope again, as our forum member Eiffel56 announced he’s working straight on a Downgrader for all 2.80 PSPs. First tests with a PSP equipped with a modchip are running. We press it the thumbs that everything’s all klappt [uh… what does klappt mean?].

Have straight ne 2.80 PSP of nem friend with me to [liegen]. A few experiments accomplished. Therefore be nothing more in the way of a 2.80 Downgrader. I am [straight at? going straight to?] programming. Tomorrow tests, then my PSP should be finished, with Modchip.

Sarah Michael (SarahBaby3325): I knew taking that German Elective would pay off—

2.80 Users can rejoice once again, as forum member Eiffel56 announces that he is now working on a Downgrader for 2.80 PSP’s. Tests on a PSP that is modchipped are currently running. We report this that everything is clicking. [Clicking reffering to that everything is running smoothly ^_^] Having a friend with a straight 2.80 PSP [meaning Non-modchiped] to experiment with, A couple expirements are being accomplished. Therefore, there can be nothing holding back the 2.80 downgrader. I am currently Programming. Tomorrow, more tests with modchip and my PSP should be finished.

Jan Hofmeister: Since I’m German (and I graduated with English language being one of my two main subjects) I’d like to provide you with a better translation of the news post about the (upcoming?) 2.8 downgrader by Eiffel56 (who is a woman, by the way). Here goes:

2.80 users may get their hopes up again, as our forum member Eiffel56 announced she’s working on a downgrader for all 2.80 PSPs right now. First tests with a modchip-equipped PSP are running. We’ll keep our fingers crossed, hoping that everything will be working out. (“klappt” is colloquial for “working out”) “Right now I have a friend’s 2.80 PSP with me, and according to some experiments there shouldn’t be anything stopping us from having a 2.80 downgrader. I’m coding right now, and should be able to test it tomorrow, since my PSP is getting a modchip right now.”

Jan Rosemann (emnem98): Hello, I’ve read your article about the 2.80 downgrader at a German site. Because of the bad 😉 translation (made with Google translator? ^^), I wanna help you with a better translation. Greetz, Jan Rosemann (emnem98) from Osnabrück in Germany.

2.80 users may hope again, as our forum member Eiffel56 announced he’s working on a Downgrader for all 2.80 PSPs at the moment. First tests with a PSP equipped with a modchip are running already. We press the thumbs that we’ll have a working downgrader in the near future. I have a 2.80 PSP of a friend of mine lying beside me. A few experiments accomplished. Therefore nothing more should be in the way of a 2.80 Downgrader. I am programming right now. Tomorrow I’ll test it, then my PSP should be finished, with Modchip.

Update: A *new* paragraph. There’s a new paragraph of text added to the German article:

Nochmal zum Mitschreiben: Ich denke es wäre eventuell möglich einen Downgrader zu machen. Ich habe nie gesagt das sich schon ein funktionierender Downgrader hier befindet. Abhängig von den Ergebnissen morgen kann das schreiben eines Downgraders keine 30 Minuten brauchen. Allerdings kann es auch mehrere Tage, Wochen, Monate dauern. Oder es ist einfach(zum jetzigen Zeitpunk) unmöglich.

the new paragraph at the German site

Google’s translation (we’re not even going to attempt one):

Again to writing: I think it would be possibly possible a Downgrader to be made. I have never said already the functioning Downgrader am here. Dependent on the results can need to tomorrow write a Downgraders no 30 minutes. However it can also several days, weeks, months take. Or it is simply (to the current Zeitpunk) impossible.

German speakers are free to make a [better] translation. Lots of thanks in advance.
