Xbox 360: Benefitting from PS3 and Wii shortages?
With analysts still debating on the possibility of a PS4, we’ll take a look at the other side of the ring, over at Bill Gate’s turf, and what analysts have to say about the Xbox360’s Christmas sales predictions.
Analyst Colin Sebastian from Lazard Capital Markets recently concluded out from a meeting with Xbox executives, and from the details he was giving out, them Microsoft execs are warming up for a bountiful sales market for their Xbox 360.
As Colin says in his report: “We [also] believe the Xbox 360 may be benefiting at retail this holiday from short supplies of PS3 and Wii consoles. Recently, Microsoft executives reaffirmed the companyÂ’s goal of reaching 10 million Xbox 360 units installed worldwide by the end 2006.”
Colin continued the report, stating that the potential Xbox360 title to take the lead for the holidays would be Gears of War, which had recently topped out Halo 2 on Xbox Live. And as for next year’s potential sales winners, “We believe there is a strong lineup of software targeted for release in 2007 on the Xbox 360, including Halo 3, GTA IV, Crackdown, Mass Effect, Bioshock and Splinter Cell 5, among others.”
With PS3 shipments predicted to be up to one million, and Wii shipments predicted at 9 million units both by December 31, we’re gonna see just what happens with Microsoft’s estimates in the upcoming Christmas splurge.
