EverQuest 2 celebrates Christma – er, Frostfell!
Deck the halls with boughs of holly, tra-lala-lala-lala-lala. ‘Tis the season to be jolly in Update #30 to Sony Online Entertainment’s EverQuest 2, as its denizens gear up to… celebrate a facsimile of the Yuletide spirit with the in-game Frostfell celebration. The legends surrounding the event contend that it’s borne out of the Lost Ages, where Norrath was placed under a curse and no god helped its residents – save one, who hid gifts of food and supplies to aid the Norrathians.
His name is lost to antiquity, but we find it easier to call him EQ’s Santa Claus. No, we don’t know who’s on his naughty list. But even the baddies of EverQuest come to celebrate the holidays, too, although they think that they deserve the gifts rather than seeing it as an act of charity.
Players can expect plenty of fun, quirky quests and beautiful decorations, both the store-bought kind and the hand-made kind. Plus, they can log in each day to claim their special present! And sit by the open campfire and roast chipmunks – chipmunks?! Whatever happened to hot chocolate and marshmallows?
And players can also sign up for the Frostfell Candycane Grab’n’Tag games. These games, which start every couple of hours in Freeport, Qeynos, and Kelethin, combine the candy cane version of a scavenger hunt with a game of tag. At game’s start, everyone scrambles to collect as many canes as possible – except for one randomly-designated player who’s been tagged as “It” and who cannot collect anything. “It” has to tag another player “It” before collecting his own candy canes.
