Wii to start revolution with Mercury Meltdown Revolution
Despite rumors of a Mercury Meltdown title for the Wii being cancelled back in August this year,
Atari and Ignition Entertainment have officially announced that the Wii will be leading the Mercury Meltdown expansion onto next generation consoles with Mercury Meltdown Revolution coming to Nintendo’s new console. If you haven’t heard of the series before, Mercury Meltdown is a brain-teasing puzzle game that places you in a world of sci-fi machines, crazy characters, and bubbling test tubes. It’s a bit like Super Monkey Ball but… crazier.
Using the Wii Remote, your job is to guide a liquid mercury “blob”, around traps, door switches, spikes, moving floors, and other hazardous elements in order to complete the level. As with Super Monkey Ball, this unique style of gameplay is perfectly suited to the Wii, and although it might be a little harder to master, it will be very fun using the Wiimote. Here’s what Mercury Meltdown Revolution will feature when it gets released next year:
- Full interaction using the Wii Remote tilt sensor
- Advance rendering techniques for improved graphical quality
- 480p support
- Over 150+ challenging levels
- Hidden Labs to unlock.
- State of the art blob physics.
- Bonus features to unlock
Another great thing about Mercury Meltdown Revolution is that it also features support for the Wii Classic and Nintendo GameCube controllers, so if you find controlling your blob of mercury with the Wiimote a little too difficult you can always revert to classic gaming. As you can see from the screenshots which Ignition entertainment were kind enough to release, this game is gonna come with a bucket-load of laughs when it comes out. Roll on Spring 2007!
