Jump into the Halo 3 Beta Testing fray with two new options
If you’re a Halo 3 fan and you think that it’s unfair that U.S. soldiers in Iraq get to beta test the game before you do, then it’s time to don that Master Chief helmet. Bungie and Microsoft are giving you two other options at getting a chance to join the multiplayer beta testing this Spring: either you qualify over XBL and be among the first 13,333 Halo 2 gamers to register for the “Rule of Three” program early this February at their official Halo3.com website, or you can simply buy Crackdown when it hits retail on February 20.
The first option would require you to participate at least three hours in Halo 2‘s “Rule of Three” program between February 1 (12:01 a.m., EST) and February 3 (11:59 p.m., EST) and make sure you fill into the aforesaid “13,333” qualification. Aside from this, you’d have to make sure that you’re at least 17 years old with access to an Xbox 360 Pro or Core console, a valid XBL Gold membership, and, of course, a copy of Halo 2.
The second option, though, is left a bit more on chance and some special hunting skills. You’d have to be fast as to find and purchase “marked” boxes of Crackdown that will include the invites to participate in the beta tests. Once you do get your copy, all you have to do is load the disc and use it as a key to download the beta from XBLM.
Simple enough, eh? The first beta sign ups was a sure success (despite the site bog down), and on top of the 140,000 people who’ve already been able to register back then, there’s definitely more room for some Brutish loving and an additional 13,333++ gamers ready for an FPS orgy.
