Xbox 360 HD-DVD player nearly reached 100K mark

360 with HD-DVDThe Xbox 360 HD-DVD player which debuted last November 7 has nearly reached the 100K mark, this is according to the figures released by the NPD Group (figures that are now being analyzed by all sorts of people). Apparently, the unit sold 42,000 pieces last November and 50,000 pieces last December in North America. Unfortunately for some aficionados, MS UK does release individual sales figures for peripherals, so you have nothing to compare it with.

The US$ 199 add-on benefited a lot from the minor software update wherein the drive integrates quietly with the 360 dashboard by splitting the “eject” button into semi-circular HD-DVD and DVD drive buttons.

Hmm, with these increase in sales (even it is nothing major), would Bill Gates change his mind about flash storage winning over HD-DVD and Blu-ray? Well, only time and sales figures can tell, we guess.
