Sony Media Software, a leading provider of professional video and audio editing software applications, announced today the immediate availability of a new, free update to its Vegas 6 award-winning non-linear professional video and audio editing platform for registered users. New features include file import support for Sony DVD Handycam camcorders , full resolution MXF reader capabilities for Sony XDCAM Professional Disc system camcorders , and file exporting and publishing to the PSP system. The Vegas 6 update is available for download at www.sony.com/mediasoftware.
“ DVD camcorders , the XDCAM family of professional cameras, and the PSP system are three of Sony ’s most innovative advances in consumer digital imaging, professional broadcast technology, and portable media entertainment,” says Dave Chaimson, vice president of marketing, Sony Media Software. “This free Vegas 6 update for registered users provides format support for these devices, furthering the software’s capabilities as the most versatile non-linear video and audio editor on the market. In fact, we’re the only professional editing solution that provides a combination of content creation and direct export to the PSP system, providing yet another delivery option to our already extensive list of supported devices and formats”.
Export to PSP system
The Vegas 6 update includes a new, high-quality H.264 AVC MPEG -4 encoder, that allows Vegas users to deliver their projects on memory stick for playback on the PSP (PlayStationPortable) system, Sony Computer Entertainment America’s popular PlayStationPortable entertainment device. Content creators can now encode PSP system-compliant video at multiple bitrates, multiple framerates, and 4:3 or 16:9 frame aspects, all using the Vegas software’s precision scaling and conversion capabilities. Using the built-in Export to PSP wizard, editors can choose from a variety of PSP system-compliant encoding templates and place the rendered file on a PSP system-formatted memory stick in a single ‘walk-away’ operation. Playback of H.264 AVC MPEG -4 from memory stick is supported by the latest generation PSP firmware (version 2.0 or higher, required) and provides incredible sound and picture quality at very low bitrates.
