Sorry, Worms HD still TBA
Team 17 head Martyn Brown apologized to a lot of impatient gamers through an interview with Eurogamer for another further delay in the highly-expected release of Worms HD for Xbox Live Arcade. He explained that the team is as frustrated as the gamers are over the time it is still taking for the game to be fully certified by Microsoft.
It’s really been a case of the last cycle of production/testing and certification taking much longer than we would have hoped. We know we aren’t the only case, but that doesn’t ease the frustration.
Earlier, Microsoft Director of Programming Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) announced that this Wednesday (well, now) would be XBLA Wednesday-free as the scheduled title had been “delayed”. Was this title going to be Worms HD? Brown told Eurogamer that he believed it was the “depth of experience” Team 17 has put into their can of Worms that’s complicating the certification process.
In other words, it’s such a doggone good game that it is taking a surprisingly doggone long time to certify, from testing (and retesting) to resubmissions of builds. The Major noted that they hold “a very high bar” of excellence for XBLA games to meet. We can be pretty sure Team 17 intends to clear that bar by a mile, preferably propelled by exploding sheep. Beyond that, please hang in there. Everyone wants this game out, but everyone wants this game great, too.
Thanks for the assurance, Team 17. Speaking of sheep, please excuse us. We have some sheep to strap dynamite to.
