Sony & Sandisk Developing

Sandisk and Sony are developing a micro-sized, multi purposed IC recording media “Memory Stick Micro” for mobile phone products. They will start to accept licensing for hardware from October, 3rd. 2005.

The size of this “Memory Stick Micro” is only 1/4 of the “Memory Stick PRO DUO”, with a thickness at 1.2mm. With the tiny size and thickness will enable designers to make small connectors for this storage media, thus reduce the whole size of the device.

An adapter for converting “Memory Stick Micro” for the “Memory Stick PRO DUO” interface will be release with the product, and making these 2 kinds of media compatible.
