European release of Sony’s 20 GB PlayStation 3 still on hold
Sony has yet to give word about releasing the 20 GB version of the PlayStation 3 in Europe – this is despite the great initial launch they had with the 60 GB version. Some attribute this to the lack of demand that the markets have shown for the said console. To give our readers an example of this Sony’s US consumer website, Sony Style, has already removed the product from their webpage.
Many believe that the Sony PlayStation 3 20 GB will be phased out of the market. CVG contacted Sony regarding the potential released of the 20 GB PS3, they were met with “We’ll continue to monitor demand for the 20GB model, from a consumer and retailer perspective… which will be factored into any future Euro launch plans.”
While that wasn’t a definite “No” from Sony, we’re expecting that unless a massive demand for the product surfaces, there could be no 20 GB PS3 in Europe. Still, if it’s any consolation, at least the 60 GB version is more cost-efficient and has more features.
