Spring Dashboard Update finally here

Xbox LIVE - Image 1For those who’ve been waiting and hoping for the Spring Dashboard Update, it’s finally here! Major Nelson has announced that the update is going live on Xbox Live. The next time players sign in, they will be prompted to receive the update.

The Major has some reminders like the prompt will appear when you sign in and not while in the middle of the game. Also, the update will go live simultaneously worldwide. Logging out and back in will not make the prompt for the update appear (better wait for your next session or log out for a few minutes). The update is particularly known for the integration of LIVE Messenger feature on the Dashboard. Other features include:

  • New achievement pop-up with name and score value
  • New Marketplace blade places content all in one place
  • Friends playing now feature at Xbox LIVE Arcade
  • Console can be set to turn off after downloads to save energy.

He also gave a quick tip about setting your Xbox 360 to turn off after the update. You can have it to queue along with your downloads and switch the console to low power (turn it off during download). The power light will blink slowly and stop when downloads finish – and the console turns off.

Editor’s note: The link that leads to Major Nelson’ site doesn’t work at the moment. Try accessing the page again in a few minutes; hopefully, the site will be up by then.
