Rumor: Contra IV for DS?

When we first heard the rumors that a new Contra would be heading to the Nintendo DS, we couldn’t help but blurt out Starcraft 2‘s tagline: It’s about time. Now, we don’t know about most of you guys, but some of us grew up playing the original one on the NES.

There has been some talk about the game being given the dual-screen treatment and that this version will not be a rehash of the old games (which were all pretty damn good, but I’m biased.) Now, Konami has NOT given out any news on this and we can’t confirm anything. Still, I (and quite a few other Contra fanatics out there) would go as far as offering a sacrifice to the gods of gaming to see this on the DS.

This wouldn’t be a QJ article if we didn’t throw in our 10 cents, so here’s what we want. We’d like to see changeable weapons via the dual screen. Co-op would also be amazing via Wi-fi and please give us four player co-op games where we can battle on different levels. Imagine a two-tiered map where you can have two players on one screen and another two on the other. You can switch between both maps depending on where the spread cannon needs to be or you can focus on just one screen.

We’re still waiting for confirmation on this and break out the news we will if it does happen. Be sure to keep checking back here for more news on the Nintendo DS and (possibly) Contra IV.
