Capcom to distribute PC titles through Steam
According to an announcement from both Capcom and Valve, Capcom will be distributing PC versions of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Onimusha 3, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix as well as future PC titles through Valve’s Steam platform.
“Steam is the right place for us to go with our titles,” said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president of Capcom American and European consumer software publishing, who also noted Capcom’s increased push towards digital distribution. “Valve has created a huge installed base of gamers who naturally fit with the profiles of the titles that Capcom develops.”
This deal makes Capcom the first Japanese video game company to distribute PC titles through Steam. Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition will be the first Capcom title on Steam, becoming available later this week. The other titles will come in the following weeks.
