Warhammer Online’s army is 200,000 strong
Talk about an army of beta testers. GOA and Electronic Arts announced today that more than 200,000 players signed up for Warhammer Online’s closed beta test in less than ten days.
According to their recent press release, registration for their closed beta began on May 30 and players were eager to get in on the game. The 200,000th registered gamer for the closed beta signed up over that same weekend, making the beta test phase of WAR one of the fastest-growing beta tests in the history of RPGs.
The development team was more than pleased with the results of the sign-ups. Said Mark Jacobs, VP and General Manager of EA Mythic,
We would like to thank the community for their tremendous response to Warhammer Online. The overwhelming worldwide response to beta test has been phenomenal. The team has been working incredibly hard on creating a genre-defining experience, and the beta sign-ups certainly validate the direction we’re taking the game. Player input and testing will be crucial in our efforts to complete the game, and we look forward to beta participants’ help in shaping Warhammer Online.
