One Piece: Gear Spirit screens and info
Luffy and the gang are back! Not only are they busting out onto the DS with their very own fighting game, they’re doing it in style. Famitsu managed to pick up some of the first screenshots we’ve seen of Namco Bandai‘s One Piece: Gear Spirit, and it features some unique action stylings.
For one thing, Gear Spirit can incorporate up to four players in one big brawl. While the top screen shows you all the action, the bottom screen allows you to watch the status of your character and that of your opponents’.
Another gameplay quirk is the introduction of Spirit Cards. Each victory against a particular opponent nets you a random Spirit Card. These cards can be used by tapping the touch screen to activate a card, increasing a particular stat for a short period of time and allowing you the opportunity to really bring some hurting to your opponents.
One Piece: Gear Spirit will make itself known in Japan come August 30. While we scour the internet for more information, feel free to look at the screens we’ve managed to pick up so far. Enjoy!
