Halo War info and screenshots
The latest installment to the Halo universe will be set before the first Halo, where players will experience the early battles between the human group UNSC and the alien invaders, the Covenant. Halo Wars will be set in Harvest – the first planet attacked by the Covenant – and will lead up to the storyline of the first game.
The new RTS system was built solidly for the Xbox 360, utilizing its controller for the full effect of the RTS battles. Players will start out as part of the Phoenix-class colony ship “Spirit of Fire,” and guided by the AI persona Serina will be commanding UNSC units into battle – a world of change from the previous Halo games which were purely first-person shooter.
Players will later have the option to command either the UNSC or the Covenant and will get to choose leaders from both civilizations to command the army. Leaders will possess elite skills they can employ in battle. UNSC units under Serina will get to command hordes of soldiers, warthogs, sparrowhawks and scorpions, and those who choose to lead the Covenant will get to command grunts, elites, ghosts, and scarabs to name a few.
The game will of course include single player campaign and multiplayer mode. The game will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 and will be released next year. Now if you just skipped all of that and just want to get to staring at the screenshots, here you are:
