Samurai Warriors Katana Koei Media Day 07 trailer video
The Wii never fails to surprise us with the many ways its motion-tracking capabilities are being used in games, and Koei‘s Samurai Warriors Katana (also known as Sengoku Musou Wave) is no exception.
No longer will you experience battling the many hordes of nameless, hapless soldiers from a third-person perspective – in Samurai Warriors Katana, it’s all in first-person, with the Wiimote serving as the handle of whatever weapon of ultimate destruction you fancy.
As we can see in this trailer video, fresh from this year’s Koei Media Day, you’ll be able to use the Wiimote to slash, stab, and prod your enemies – as well as shoot them with various projectile weapons. The fact that you can easily switch from close combat to ranged combat freshens up the hack-and-slash experience some, not to mention that the battles you’ll be having with enemy officers concentrate more on timing rather than just swinging your Wiimote all over the place.
Samurai Warriors Katana could be the 1:1 sword fighting title we’ve all been waiting for. What do you think? Let us know by your comments – in the meantime, enjoy the video!
