EA Sports responds to Madden NFL 08’s PS3 frame rate issue
EA Sports has been relatively quiet to the outcry of Sony PlayStation 3 owners regarding the frame rate of Madden NFL 08, but Rob M, EA Sports’ Senior Tech Support Director responded to an email sent by a fan and explained their side.
The PlayStation 3, recognized as the most advanced game console in the market hardware-wise, has Madden running at 30 frames per second, but many were shocked to find out that the Xbox 360 version of the same game will run at 60 frames.
Rob was apologetic in tone in his reply over the frustration of the PS3 fan and explained that “it is very difficult to get it right the first time,” referring to developing a game for the new machine.
He also explained how different the development challenge was for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, saying “many publishers have been developing titles for the Xbox 360 for over three and a half years while everyone who publishes now for the PlayStation 3 with the exception of Sony has been developing for the PlayStation 3 for only a little over one full year.”
If it’s any consolation, Rob also brought up the fact that all football simulations currently on the PS3 are all running at Madden 08‘s speed, including 2K Sports‘ All-Pro Football.
“If you choose not to purchase the game, it is a choice fully understand and respect,” concludes the Tech Support Director as he made it clear that the email that the fan sent has been forwarded to the development team with hopes that the matter will be better addressed.
