Console gamers ready for strategy games, says Sid Meier

Civilization creator Sid Meier is confident that console gamers are now ready to take on turn-based strategy games, and he is now taking steps to ensure that console gamers will receive their ample share of games that require more brains rather than reflex.

“The console audience is ready to step up to strategy gaming, especially when we can present in a way that looks cool and sounds cool,” he said, adding that console gaming now allows for more innovation.

While Meier and Firaxis is now all-fired up to develop more Civilization games (and turn-based strategy games) for the console, Meier emphasizes that they will not in anyway neglect the PC platform, as it is still a crucial part of their development. For them, the PC still is the platform that serves the hardcore Civilization gamers.
