Minor Xbox 360 System Update is not fall dashboard update
For those of us who have just switched on their Xbox 360s and wondering what was the update all about, rest easy – it’s not the fall dashboard update we’ve been waiting pins and needles for. Now, before you say Jedi Mind Trick, Major Nelson himself has verified that the update is in fact not about the dashboard, but something else entirely.
So what was it for, anyway? Just like the update that popped up into our screens before the launch of Halo 3, it’s another minor patch to prep our Xbox 360s for another big release. This time, it’s about the Big Button Pad that comes with Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action quiz game. And the reason why they got it out so early was that the team needs a bit of time to test the new controller against the hardware/software combo before it hits retail shelves.
So that’s it. The update’s just about adding support for the Big Button Pad, and nothing but. Guess we’ll have to keep on our toes for that fall dashboard update, eh?
