Astro Boy, Ghost in the Shell, others on Xbox Live Marketplace
Microsoft Senior Director for Media and Entertainment Group Ross Honey and Starz Media Senior VP for Business Development and Strategy Marc DeBevoise jointly announced the other day that Xbox 360 users can now download anime classics from Xbox Live Video Marketplace.
The selection includes Season 1 and 2 of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Street Fighter II V, Noein, Tokko, Virus, and Astro Boy. Honey said that these totally compliment the growing library of programming already available in the Anime channel of the download service. Likewise, DeBevoise had this to say:
Fans have now been asking for these titles digitally. Xbox Live is the perfect digital media platform to bring this unique form of entertainment to fans. We’re very happy to have these anime titles from Manga Entertainment on Xbox Live with its broad reach and significant depth of content.
The two officials also said that this is just the beginning of a new relationship and that more anime titles will be offered in the coming weeks and months. It was previously reported that Xbox 360 users in Europe will soon get the video download service as well.
