No new HD-DVD drive, says Microsoft

We reported earlier that Microsoft will release an enhanced version of the Xbox 360’s HD-DVD drive. However, Microsoft recently commented that the news of a new HD-DVD was just a misquote, and denies producing such a peripheral.

Also contrary to what was reported in the earlier article, a Microsoft spokesperson also denied any plans of integrating HD-DVD drives into PCs in the future.

Despite Microsoft’s denial, two separate sources can confirm with each other of what Mark Bennett said during the demonstration. Meanwhile, another journalist in the event was heard to have been able to actually record Bennett’s very own words.
