Videos: Trip out to the PlayStation Eye with Tori Emaki and Mesmerize

With most of today’s games involving some intense combative experience of some sort, it’s nice to play something that doesn’t involve points, time limits, or even competition. Two new games soon to arrive on the PlayStation Network and made to take advantage of the PlayStation Eye hopes to do just that. Prepare to chill out and groove to Sony‘s Tori Emaki and Mesmerize for the PS3.

Tori Emaki puts you in command of a flock of crows in a living, breathing artpiece that’s drawn in the traditional Japanese Sumi-e style. Point, and the crows will follow, taking you on a tranquil trip into ancient Japan – the experience complete with sounds of both nature and rural life. It’s captivating, powerful, and pretty much a great way to unwind after a hard day’s worth of gaming.

Mesmerize involves a bit more movement. The PlayStation Eye captures your movements and replicates it onscreen via a series of pillars that rise and fall. There are ten different modes to this little beauty, and we see one of them, Urban Mode, as it tracks your movements to create networks of skyscrapers. It sounds a bit confusing in theory, but it definitely looks nifty in practice. In any case, you can check out both games in action via the embeds below. Enjoy.
