Square Enix, Namco Bandai to release exclusive IPs on WiiWare
Nintendo has promised to give its full support to network-based gaming during its press conference today in Japan. This will reportedly come in the form of the WiiWare service – a Wii Shop Channel dedicated to providing players with new games.
Earlier reports mentioned that the said games will mostly be developed by independent and small-scale studios. Quite interestingly, it was revealed today that several big companies such as Square Enix, Hudson, Namco Bandai, and even Nintendo itself will be releasing new IPs on the WiiWare channel. Some of the titles revealed include:
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Chiisa na Ousama to Yakusoku no Kuni (The Young King and the Promised Land) – a game where the objective is to build up your own country
- Pokemon Bokujou (Pokemon Farm) – raise Pokemon in a farm-like environment; allows transfers of Pokemon from DS titles Pearl and Diamond
- Mojipittan Wii – popular word puzzle game released on Nintendo DS and Sony PSP
- Doctor Mario
- Star Solider R
Aside from the already mentioned, Nintendo also promised to improve Wii’s networking service. Planned additions include improvements on Wii Vote channel, search features to allow gamers find matches that suit them, demo downloads, counseling center to help users hook up the Wii to the Internet, and networking equipment and home installation.
