20th Century Fox to release “Sunshine” Blu-Ray with PIP function
Film distributor 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will be releasing a Blu-Ray edition of Sunshine, the sci-fi thriller directed by Danny Boyle, by January 8 next year. What makes this all the more interesting is that the Sunshine’s Blu-Ray will feature a picture-in-picture function, which Fox had demonstrated during the recent Blu-ray Festival press event.
And while most Blu-Ray players have yet to carry PIP support, Fox senior VP Steve Feldstein stated during the demo that players to be released in the next few months would be PIP-capable. In line with this news, Sony PlayStation 3 owners will want to keep on a lookout for a related firmware update that will enable your console to view PIPs as well.
The Sunshine Blu-Ray disc will hit retail for US$ 40, with its standard DVD release coming out simultaneously at a price of US$ 30.
