Monster Hunter Freedom 2 bagging awards, breaking records in Japan
Capcom announces today that PlayStation Portable exclusive title Monster Hunter Freedom 2 just broke the one and a half million mark for number of units sold in Japan alone, making it the first game to do so for the Sony handheld.
This achievement brings the total sales for the Monster Hunter franchise up to 4.8 million. The series began on the PlayStation 2 platform with the release of the first Monster Hunter game in 2004. More good news for the franchise after the jump!

Capcom is pleased to announce that Monster Hunter Freedom 2 was chosen to receive the Excellence Prize today in the Entertainment Division of the Japan Media Arts Festival, sponsored by the Japan Media Arts Festival Executive Committee of Agency for Cultural Affairs.
It was chosen from among 2,091 pieces, representing 43 different countries and locals in its division, and has demonstrated its merits as a piece of media art.
Lastly, Capcom has finally confirmed that the sequel to this game, Monster Hunter Freedom 2G, will be made available in the region on March 13, 2008 Quite unfortunately, however, there is still no word if the title will see an international launch.
