Have you ever wondered what it’s like to run a company like Sony? Just ask Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). Mr. Tretton revealed what his first year with SCEA was like in a recent interview.
According to Mr. Tretton, his previous twenty-two years of experience in the gaming industry (thirteen of which were spent with SCEA) helped prepare him for his eventual role as CEO.
However, Mr. Tretton also admitted that he only got to appreciate the depth of the responsibility behind the CEO position when he was actually CEO himself.
In other words, Mr. Tretton realized that the buck stops with him regardless of whether he was directly responsible for something or not. As Mr. Tretton himself put it: “The biggest surprise is something that exists in society and in general is that people like to see leaders struggle and they like to find a kink in the armor.”
Jack Tretton wasn’t the only subject that Mr. Tretton talked about, though. If you’d like to know what he said about the future direction of SCEA and the PlayStation 3, simply follow the source link back to the full interview.
